One Bird Renders Me Rudely Speechless

Picture this… I was talking to a friend for a good conversation when a white bird that I had only seen in pictures made a fly-by. Then, the bird circled around and landed twelve feet or so from me and stood perfectly still. I couldn’t help it. Whatever the conversation may have been, my attention was immediately fixated on the bird. I was rude and have apologized, but the bird grabbed all of my attention. My reaction was beyond my control.

Only a Couple

Work is certainly getting in the way of spring outdoor photography. So much so that today I only have pictures of two species to share.

What a Divided Day!

Wow, what a pleasant day! Kristy and I had two of our grandkids and a granddog with us and were we ever busy - paddling in the morning, a hike in the woods in the afternoon. I will divide the day’s images by activities.

Paddling: All four of us spent time on the water looking for turtles and birds. Possibly the most interesting wildlife photos were a series of images of Olympic quality for the sport of turtle diving. Our score for this dive would be quite high considering the shape of the turtle hitting the water.

Shelf Cloud Across the Horizon

Early this morning Kristy and I watched as this very dramatic shelf cloud moved across our horizon. Coming with it was wind and rain - about 1/2” according to our rain gauge. This was very impressive to see and watch!

Marten’s Lake Renovation Update

How Much To Include

Many years ago when I was beginning down my outdoor photography passion path, I started out studying wildflowers through my camera lenses. First pictures were preserved on the subdued colors of Kodachrome slide film, then the very strong greens of Fuji film, and ending with the equally vivid colors of Ektachrome Elite. Tradeoffs… Priorities

After yesterdays post (late morning and dark, dreary, windy, and cold), I decided the Layla (our nearly blind, mostly deaf, terribly stubborn, and missing all of her teeth dog) and I should take a drive. She sat on the center console while she and I drove to central Iowa to surprise my daughter, her husband, her boys, and Kristy who had been there since Thursday.
