More Color Than The Sky

There is no doubt in my mind that this drake wood duck had more color than the drab sky of today, or the many blue-winged teal I found hanging out in ditches that have not had water for a couple of years.

Woodies are much more secretive than blue-winged teal. When I saw this small area of backwater along a timber, I had a hunch I might see wood ducks, if I could find them. It took some looking but I eventually found the pair in vegetation. Soon they moved out into the open to increase the space between them and me and I had easy photo shooting.
