Fungi and Fauna From the Day

Some days I see plenty of things, other days maybe not so much. Today was a "see plenty" of things day that began with spotting this whitetail doe at daybreak.

Later today I explored on the Wapsipinicon River. My first observation was a healthy collection of oyster mushrooms growing on a tree along the water.

After photographing the fungi I then found a plethora of painted turtles sunning themselves on logs. Each allowed for photos. I thought this image with two on a log was the best for the day.

I know there are some who do not appreciate snakes. Me… I am not one of those. If or when snakes will remain in place for photos I am willing to oblige them. This water snake was very cooperative resulting in a handful of photos.
