One for Success

I don’t know how wildflowers survive the nonstop strong winds we have had lately, but somehow most appear just fine. What I can say, without a doubt, is photographing the delicate blossoms as they are battered in the wind can be a real challenge on days like today.

My equipment included an extension tube, a close-up filter, and a 70-300mm lens. The light was all natural and I composed the image to emphasize the blossoms against shadowed areas.

Each image took multiple attempts as the blossoms moved in the breeze. With strong magnification on my Nikon, any little movement of the wildflower (or me) was exaggerated and ruined the image. So, many attempts were made with not all of them being acceptable images. But, it only takes one good image to make an outing a success!
