A Couple of Interesting Observations
Daylight Savings Time is, for me, a real treat. I am almost always up anyway, so I might as well get started on my day.
Today’s beginning was at Sweet Marsh before the sun came up. I wanted to be in position to observe the activities and there were plenty of things going on.
New species that appeared to have arrived since yesterday were (I have photos of each):
Canvasback
Hooded Mergansers
Common Goldeneye
Another interesting observation made was, of the many trumpeter swans, one adult was sporting a neck collar. I have submitted the data to learn the history of the bird. For my pictures I have blurred the number.
There were many trumpeter swans and many provided nice clear views as sampled here. The sandhill crane numbers grew substantially - to the point birds on the ground were calling as other birds flew. Yesterday that was not the case. Greater white-fronted geese flew in by the waves this morning too.
A rough-legged hawk also posed for pictures today (finally)!
