Signs of Spring!

Before the wind kicked up today I went out for a hike around Sweet Marsh.

Early morning hikes provide an opportunity to photograph sunrise colors. I did not compose wide angle views for the sunrise and landscape. Instead I opted for closer compositions that included nothing but warm colors and silhouettes.

As I walked the dikes I saw multiple pairs of sandhill cranes - all of them calling. At this time I cannot say I have noticed any of the pairs claiming nesting areas, but I expect that will happen soon.

Finally, I had to document how the maple trees are recognizing the changing of seasons as they begin to bud out with serious efforts.
