A Different Time and Different Photos
Due to a commitment this morning I was not able to walk around Sweet Marsh around sunrise. As a result, and as expected, the amount of wildlife (birds) observed paled compared to the two previous morning photo hikes. Most wildlife seen was far away and better just remembered, not photographed. I did have one close encounter with sandhill cranes and a lone greater white-fronted goose flew over as shown here.

For the birders reading this… Today I saw two snow goose decoy spreads. From a distance they appear somewhat as if a flock of snow geese are on the ground. On closer inspection you will see the white “things” are decoys and there are likely hunters nearby. The season runs January 26 through May 1.

A “First of the Year” observation was seeing my first painted turtle out sunning after a long winter nap.
