A Couple of Firsts (of the year) and Repeats
As our unseasonably mild winter continues on, some aspects of spring are well under way. Today I documented three more “First of the Year” observations.
First of the Year observation #1 was a woodchuck running across the highway. I was not able to document this with a photo.
First of the Year observation #2 was a wood duck found with Canada geese. The picture is nothing special other than to document the sighting.
First of the Year observation #3 was skunk cabbage. According to my records, this appearance is almost nine days earlier than before. Take into consideration that I do have to travel, so this year’s observation and previous early observations are likely off by a few days. Regardless, this is early, especially for as developed as this plant is! (Note: Skunk cabbage are known to appear when snow is still on the ground.)
Repeat observations for today were these bald eagles that put on quite a show.
