I Might Believe Anything on This Topic

Astrophotography has got to be my least familiar photography topic. As much as I try, other than the obvious stars and the moon, I struggle to know what is out there in space during the dark of night (that really is not dark!).

Once again tonight I went looking for the green comet. Like previous attempts, I am finding a very bright spot that may or may not be the comet. When I try to photograph it, the only way that I can see to capture a moving comet without blurring the other stars in the sky would be to use a motorized mount that tracks movement. I do not own one and probably never will. So, the best I can do is guess.

The image for today isn’t even pointed in the correct direction for the green comet tonight. In this photo I may have recorded Venus and Jupiter (two bright spots), along with other stars and at least two airplanes, but who knows? Certainly not me!
