During the Blizzard

Over the years I have learned that the more uncomfortable winter conditions are for me, the more likely I am to be able to approach close enough for photographs of horned larks, lapland longspurs, and/or snow buntings. When I had a few minutes, just as the wind was beginning to kick up, I went out for a search for those three species. I was somewhat successful with two of the three in that I did photograph horned larks and a lapland longspur. None of the images were that good, but I did see them at close range.

Since most birds and other wildlife were successfully in hiding, I turned my attention to any interesting landscape images I found. As regular readers may have noticed, I have a fondness for lone trees in fields. During blue-sky days those trees are not often photo-worthy. However, on a day like today those same trees can be the sole element in an interesting image. Of the several lone trees I found today, this one was my favorite.
