An Avian Surprise

While taking a few minutes to enjoy the little things – like fall colors – I watched a fly-over of Franklin’s gulls. These two were part of a much larger group of the gulls. I was not expecting to see any of this species today, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Also in the air were probably 100 turkey vultures. I wonder if they are moving south.
