Frog Generates Boat Thoughts

As I paddled toward my dock tonight I spotted this bullfrog on a rock at the river’s edge. The picture is nothing special – just a frog. But, the image did make me think of my boats…actually any boat…that is on the water for any length of time. Shortly after the boat hits the water scum begins to form on the metal that is in contact with the water. Once that scum forms, nothing completely removes it. I have tried an acid wash, but that did not do the job I expected. So, for me the fix is to not leave my boats in the water if I don’t want the stains.     

When I looked at the frog it was easy to see which part of the frog is routinely in the water and what areas are not. The frog is like a boat – stained below the water line and better looking above.
