Some Serious Pollinating Going On
Kristy and I are in the process of converting some of our crop ground into pollinator habitat over the next growing season. I am excited to see more habitat on the border of the property, along with the increase in wildlife the habitat will host. We already see deer, fox, and pheasants along with an assortment of insects and some birds. With more habitat we should have more wild company.
Until next year we are relying on existing vegetation to attract various insect species. Until the last couple of days we were not seeing much for flying critters. Then something happened with our sedum plants. Wow…the bees, wasps, and butterflies really like the pink blossoms! Even though the plants are just decorative, I really like what they are bringing into the neighborhood. Imagine what next year will be like when we have so much more pollinator habitat!
This was one of the cabbage white butterflies that stopped by the sedum blossoms.
