Beware the Right Leg and an Invitation and a Buzz

While driving today I spotted this red-tailed hawk with what appears to be a lame left leg. The leg never moved and the talons appear to be hanging. If I am correct, the right leg is probably wicked strong since it does all of the work - from grasping a perch to grabbing prey. Good luck hawk!

Early this morning, just after sunrise, I checked the river for something new (saw nothing other than fog). Since the river was smooth as glass I decided to document the quiet scene. With the fog rising and the peaceful conditions, I am pretty sure I was being invited to go for a paddle. Maybe another day… I had to go to work.

This afternoon I found a dead cicada. What a great opportunity for messing around with macro photography!
