Diary of My First Day of (Early) Retirement
Today was my first “official” day of retirement (early). I found no guidelines or handbook on how the first day was supposed to go, so I had to wing it. Following was the day:
My grandson and I went to my first physical therapy appointment since my bicep/shoulder repair surgery. My feet lifted off the table a time or two and my eyes leaked three times, but, as my grandson said, “you did not squeal.”
My grandson and I went out for breakfast. (I normally eat only an English muffin.)
We had an LP tank filled and picked up a window screen.
We took care of some paperwork issues at my place of “former” employment.
We flew my drone under the Bremer Avenue bridge where I temporarily lost signal and risked a crash. With this near-miss effort I nearly brought up my breakfast out of fear. See the video at this link:
We attended a radio system upgrade webinar since I am still on the 911 board. This too was at my place of “former” employment.
We had a very small lunch. (Still full from breakfast.)
I supervised my grandson cutting ragweed with a machete. (I cannot since I am on restrictions post-surgery.)
We drove to the fish kill on Crane Creek to photograph dead stuff. (Sad, disturbing… we hope the source is determined.)
Photographed a young bald eagle feeding on dead stuff. (I hope it does not suffer. Nature’s clean-up crew know not what happened or the possible toxins awaiting.)
Photographed a new plant found during our “fish kill” drive.
Grandma came home and we continued to behave.
Whew…. what a day! So this is retirement??
