Not For Hire
Over the years one of my camera lenses has managed to accumulate an impressive layer of dust on an internal piece of glass. I cannot say for sure that the dust has impacted images, but I am certain it did not help a single picture.
Removal of the dust was possible by sending the lens to the manufacturer along with a couple hundred dollars. Or, being the miserly fellow I am, and since the lens has had intermittent problems, I took a gamble. Armed with tiny tools and a will to remove the dust, I partially disassembled the lens to remove the glass element for cleaning. I then reassembled the lens with no leftover parts.
No good attempt at a repair is complete without testing the lens for focus/sharpness. The following three images seem to show the lens is passing crisp, clean light through the glass with no indication of dust distractions. And, my wallet is only $7.00 thinner, not hundreds!
By the way, I am not for hire!
