OK - I Got The Message

As I drove home from a pleasant evening of paddling my canoe on the Wapsipinicon River (enjoying the company of a warbling vireo), I saw a motorcyclist on the highway. As happens about this time each year - when the temperatures are pleasant and you can ride with the wind - I began to reminisce about riding a motorcycle.

I sold mine a number of years ago and Kristy replaced it with a Jeep. Yes, we sometimes take the top and doors off the Jeep and go for rides, but it is not quite the same as riding a motorcycle. I was thinking about it… maybe I should buy another motorcycle… wouldn’t it be fun again to ride on two wheels. Then my pager tones went off - motorcycle vs deer with multiple injuries.

Folks - what we saw and did at that scene convinced me that NO, I will not be buying another motorcycle. The air blowing through the Jeep is just fine. No motorcycle for me. And even if I did buy another bike, I would not ride relaxed as I watched for deer or other animals on the road or the dreaded distracted drivers. Nope - Jeep for me when I need the wind!

The Good Lord certainly has interesting ways of guiding me sometimes. So often I ask for clear guidance and don’t really see it. Other times, like tonight, the message is delivered loud and clear.

So about today - I did shoot some bird photos. In fact, one of the species was a “Life Bird” for me - one that I have never seen before. Those are always fun!
