Like a Teen Bird?

For a precious few minutes I was able to watch as this nonbreeding male Indigo bunting flitted from tree to tree calling his melodic song. His mottled feather coloration was indicative of a nonbreeding male.

As I watched the energetic bird I could not help but wonder if the little guy was confused - maybe trying to be like the breeding males as they called in mates. Or, was he wondering just what he should be doing - feeling urges but not quite certain of the process? Maybe next year he will be ready for adult tasks? Whatever he was thinking, it was a joy to watch him.
