The Annual Dilemma

Several times each spring, when the first wildflowers are popping up at the same time migrant birds are arriving, I struggle with which direction I should point my lens. Should I photograph blossoms or chase birds? This is a dilemma that has occurred for me for years. Same story, different years.

Today I opted to go for a hike to photograph pasqueflowers rather than drive to a nearby lake to photograph a loon or merganser or grebe. It would have been fun to photograph any of the birds again, but knowing how seldom I see pasqueflowers made it easy to decide today’s activities. I hiked, I found pasqueflowers, and I shot pictures. It was a good day!
