On Perch…Almost

While driving in the northern part of the county on Highway 63, a dark hawk on perch on a fence post caught my attention. By the time I had crossed the rumble strips along the edge of the road, the noises I generated spooked the bird and it took flight.

I was not immediately certain what species I was looking at. Eventually I settled on this being a rough-legged hawk.

This picture is far from high quality, but that is what happens when photography conditions are dark, dreary, and raining. You shoot your pictures when you can.

If you are traveling on Highway 63, watch for this bird. It is quite noticeable.
