Small Stampede on the Dike
During my morning walk around Sweet Marsh I was surprised by the sensation I was being approached. You probably know the feeling… when the hair on the back of your neck stands up. That was what I was feeling - something was fast approaching and I needed to identify what and where.
I stopped walking, turned around, and found these two young whitetail deer running at high speed toward me. I have no idea what their story was since they came from where I had been. What scared them is something I did not see.
As the mini-stampede head toward me and then passed by, I shot a few pictures. This one best illustrates the action.
By the way, I did see plenty of waterfowl, bald eagles, and sandhill cranes too.
