Nature Imitates Human Displays
How appropriate that on this Valentine’s Day I am fortunate enough to find and photograph two adult bald eagles sitting side-by-side on a branch high in a conifer. And how ironic is it that the birds appear to be displaying emotions we sometimes see in humans.
Kristy and I often comment when we see pictures, often announcing a long, milestone anniversary, of couples who appear to be completely disillusioned by the decades they have spent together. Frequently one, but sometimes both, look grumpy, angry, displeased, or thoroughly disgusted by the time they have spent together.
When I saw these two birds I was excited since the timing was right for the holiday. When editing my pictures, I laughed at how both birds appear as some of the anniversary pictures we see - absolutely not thrilled to be together. And if the science is correct - that bald eagles mate for life - maybe they have been miserable partners for each other but continue to go along with the game of bonding since that is what eagles do.
Whatever the case - I hope each of you and these two bald eagles make the best of this Valentines Day. Hopefully you have something to be excited about. Happy Valentine’s Day!
(And please… smile unless smiling would be inappropriate. Life is too short to be grumpy! When you smile, others smile, and soon many are positively impacted.) (Now that I think about it, I have never seen an eagle smile. Oh well, us humans can smile and should be smiling more!)
