Another Two Part Post - Fun and Not Fun

My “fun” photos for the day included a male northern cardinal, wild turkeys, and an adult bald eagle in flight. I have concerns about the adult bald eagle since before my photo it was one of three eagles feeding on a downed Canada goose, but for the duration of my photo it appeared healthy. Let’s hope good health stays with it.

The “Not Fun” photos feature more on the outbreak at Sweet Marsh.

As of this afternoon, we now have adult trumpeter swans in the dying process. Sadly, one of the adults we will soon lose is, I presume, with its mate and offspring from this year. Both are remaining close to the ill swan.

There is another lone swan clearly ill and likely dying, along with more Canada geese.

I have been in regular contact with the DNR Officer and he is aware of the situation today. I have found affected birds elsewhere in and out of the county.

For your health, please do not handle any ill or downed wild birds of any species.
