Two Perspectives

Today’s images were created from two perspectives. Let’s begin with pictures made from the typical view - from the ground.

My first photo features a barred owl nearly hidden near the top of a white pine tree. I heard the owl calling and after I finally located its hiding spot, I quickly recognized I better shoot while I could since the owl was not likely to remain in view. Shoot I did, even with branches obscuring much of the bird. It was this type of composition or none.

A second ground-level image is a standard documentary type photo of wild turkeys feeding in the mist. There was certainly nothing special about this picture.

Now for views from a different perspective.

Today I documented the progress of the renovations at Sweet Marsh. When I looked down at both of these views, I found them interesting and thought others might too.

This first photo shows the “road map” of sorts of the bottom of Marten’s Lake after the vegetation was burned. When the pool is filled with water we never see the activity that created these paths. Isn’t it interesting! (For perspective, there is a burned tree in the top center of the frame.)

This view shows the many colors of autumn and burned trees from an angle we don’t often see. This would make a good puzzle.
