More Learning Than I Expected

Since the winter months have far more minutes of darkness than light, I am hoping to improve my night sky photography. Tonight I am sharing my first serious effort of this season photographing star trails.

Technical details include: 1-hour and 40 minutes of shooting, 178 images stacked, horizontal lines are headlights and tail lights from traffic, diagonal lines are aircraft cutting across my view, and the circular lines are stars in the sky. This recorded a partial circle since I was pointed at the North star. I opted to remove several frames that recorded (at close range) headlights and tail lights in the foreground. I could have left them, but they were very distracting.

For my first serious try I am satisfied. This will be a learning process.

This image consists of 310 stacked images over almost 3-hours.
