My Favorites…Not “Cotton Candy” Water Pictures!

Well before dawn I headed toward Malanaphy Springs in Winneshiek County in an effort to record pictures and video clips of a very pretty location in Northeast Iowa. I left early to better my odds of capturing the beauty in the best light – before the sun rose high and created harsh shadows. As often happens, once there I did not travel too far too fast due to seeing so many interesting nature photo ideas along the well-worn path to the spring.

When all was said and done I had spent several hours at the state preserve. Yes, I recorded images of moving water from the spring. But, those types of images were not my favorites of the day. My preferred photo was a simple image of an autumn maple leaf that came to rest on a maidenhair fern. My second favorite image was a moss-covered log found on the forest floor. Moving water images made the list after these two views.
