A Pleasant Surprise!

Over the past couple of days I have been watching several red-breasted nuthatches flitting about in the trees along the Wapsie. The little birds have been regular visitors, so I thought maybe I could photograph them. In fact, my goal for the day was to photograph both the red-breasted nuthatches and their cousins the white-breasted nuthatches.

It did not take long before both species made an appearance. Of course I was pressing the shutter release button when the nuthatches paused ever so briefly.

As I was watching the activities at the tree, my routine suddenly got very busy when a lone brown creeper made an appearance. None of the images I recorded were exceptional, but they did document the presence of the brown creeper, as shown here (along with red-breasted and white-breasted nuthatch pics).
