Quiet Time with #2
Thanks to family schedules that had Grandma and Gramps Grandkid Uber (as our son described us) going today, I was able to spend quality quiet time with my second grandchild this morning. Our agenda, according to him, was to go fishing, go for a hike, and then be at flag football by 9:30. According to my schedule that was not practical. According to his schedule, since he woke at 6:30 and was waiting for me (I had no idea he woke that early), we could have done it all. Ultimately he and I passed on the fishing and went on a relaxing photo walk punctuated with grandson/gramps conversation.
My grandson was carrying a camera and composing/shooting pics as he liked. At the end of our hike it was obvious he was “seeing” nature subjects and had been, for the most part, paying attention to composition suggestions. As we left we agreed he needed an ability to focus at close range (macro work) so I am getting that figured out for him.
Going for a hike with the young lad was worthwhile for several reasons – he was “unplugged” from electronic games for a while, he had yet another quality outdoor experience, and he and I were able to spend special time together – something that does not happen often enough with any of the grandkids.
This was my nature photography partner at work for a while this morning:
By the way, we made it to football on time and he and his team played well.
