There is Life
These days of clouds and more clouds - some of them leaking snowflakes - tend to wear on a person. Like most people, I do best on sunny days and we have not had enough. Drab days are far outnumbering blue sky days.
During my walk this evening, at a time when it was difficult to recognize the transition from a very cloudy day time to sunset, I came across tell-tale signs of life. Through the cold, wind, and snow, a ring-necked pheasant had survived. Sometime in an hour or two before my walk the ditch chicken had roamed the gravel road on my path.
Really, there seem to be many pheasants working the landscape. I would guess the recent blizzard wasn’t good for all of them, but it certainly appears a great many pheasants survived the weather challenge just fine.
