Move Along

At an intersection today I found this rooster ring-necked pheasant out strutting on the road, eventually working toward the side of the road, but hardly moving when traffic came along. He showed no fear, even when traffic whizzed by at close range. My slowing to avoid hitting him only moved him out of the travel lane.

Eventually, after talking to him while shooting a couple of pictures, he took flight. This rooster seemed to fly without trouble leading me to believe all was well with him. That is good since he almost became a feathered stain on the highway. Let’s hope he stays safe.
