Invasive Photo Bomber

Each year it seems like our Japanese beetle invasion is getting worse. My trees, our roses, even wild milkweed – nothing green seems to be avoided by Japanese beetles. The bad news with them is they can quickly decimate the foliage where they are eating. The good news is the damage appears to be temporary most of the time. The facts are we probably will never see a time without Japanese beetles again – they are here to stay.

When I found some prairie blazing star today I stopped to photograph it. Since blazing star is a taller plant, composing with an acceptable background can sometimes be a challenge, as this was. I shot a few photos and moved on, thinking I had a decent image of prairie blazing star. I guess I did until a Japanese beetle photo-bombed the scene. (If a Japanese beetle is going to sneak into a photo, it could at least be in my focus zone!)
