Try to Hunt Them Wild
A few years ago I accompanied a group of guys while they hunted pheasants on a game farm. My intentions on that outing were to photograph the process of hunting ring-necked pheasants – shooting action, dogs pointing, the landscape in the fall. I had a good time, but that may have been partly because I knew I was going to see birds. Outside of a game farm the odds of seeing birds may not be quite so high, so I have not gone out just with my Nikon to photograph pheasants. That may be changing.
Today two roosters caught my attention. Even though I didn’t have much time or space to move to photograph them, I did manage to record some images of the beautiful birds in flight. Now I have the urge to try to flush roosters to photograph. Do I return to the game farm? Do I try to find them wild? I need to think about this.
