Looking Into the Sun (and more)

Photography is nothing more than recording light or the absence/varying levels of light. The most common type of lighting is with the light behind you and featuring the subject. Sometimes though, a photographer has no choice but to look into the light. Such conditions can result in images with lens flare. More often such images result in less than pleasing lighting… for me the images tend to be deleted.

Today I had the sun behind me and in front of me. As the following images clearly illustrate, when the sun was behind me the photographs created were your standard images. There was nothing wrong with them, they were just standard. When I was in a position to look into the sun, I could have put my camera down and given up. Instead, I “played” with the light and created some images that I found quite interesting.

I will share both lighting versions with you, beginning with the images shot while looking into the sun.
