New Year's Day Paddling 2015 - Image 292823r

Happy New Year to All!

Here we are, at the beginning of another year. My hope for each of you is that 2015 will be your best year ever, that your challenges be minimal, and that you find satisfaction in all you do.

The highlight of my holiday would have to be something my buddy Darrin and I started 23-years ago. We began that new year with a paddling trip in one of my aluminum canoes. Fast-forward to today when we had 40-people joining us in kayaks on the Cedar River in Waverly. The temperature was a balmy 32-degrees and the outing was fun!  My thanks to all who took time out of their day to join us!  For those wondering, I was one of the last to get in the water. Rather than fight the current to join the group, since I had chest waders on I just walked up river.

Before I went paddling I watched my bird feeders. Last year we had virtually no pine siskins. This year we have many. Why is there such a difference in numbers from year to year.

I also have many chickadees at the feeders. I photographed this one.
