Sunrise On A Purple Coneflower Prairie
The title of today’s post takes liberty with the name of a local grassland area. North of Tripoli are some acres of DNR ground. As far as I know, the prairie area itself has not been formally named. I refer to it as the Possum Prairie since it is along Possum Avenue. Each year about this time the area is dotted with various wildflower blossoms. Seldom can I drive by Possum Prairie without stopping to enjoy the beauty. Such was the case this morning. I was returning from an early morning paddling outing on the Wapsie in Frederika. I shot a few photos, but nothing spectacular. As I passed the grassland, the coneflowers called my name. I stopped and shot a few photos. It’s hard to beat the subtle beauty of dew on wildflowers on a quiet morning!
