No Much For a Photo, But a New Technique Figured Out
Some days I do much less shooting and far more experimenting. Tonight was one of those times.
I worked to figure out how to take high “frames per second” video recordings. That technique will allow me to then create smooth slow-motion videos. The recordings were easy to make and view on the camera, but I have not figured out how to edit them on my computer, no matter what settings I use. I guess I have more work to do.
On the still photography side of things I came up with a simple way to use my GoPro light with my Nikon DSLR to conduct nighttime photo safaris. I was hoping to find a gray tree frog, but found none. My second desired species was the garter snake that I have seen around the house, but that too was a bust. Finally, I did find one of our American toads on the prowl in the far backyard. The toad made a good test subject.
My technique works and is so simple. I wish I had invested the time in dinking around with equipment months ago when there was much more night-time critter activity.
