What I Wanted, What I Now Have
Time for any nature photography was in very short supply today due to family and work commitments. In total I had maybe fifteen minutes to point my Nikon at something wild.
Knowing I just changed out the hummingbird feeder sugar water meant I could count on a couple of the little birds appearing for a drink. As expected, they did show up within a minute or two. With the presence of the hummingbirds, I was hopeful to shoot a picture or two of them in flight – away from feeders or anything man-made. It took some effort and failure tracking the birds, but I did manage to record a couple views.
At one point a hummer paused on branch in front of a maple leaf. On a whim I pressed the shutter release button. On review of my images for the session, that one picture ended up being my favorite of the day. It almost appears staged, but know that it was not.
