Indian Pond Safari
As I pulled up to our cabin tonight I was met by my good neighbor who was calling his grandsons out to meet me. The four of them had something special to show me that they had found earlier in the day. We walked toward the river, me wondering what they found that I had not seen before. Then they pointed it out…a small, but very active, paper wasp nest.
None of the boys or their granddad had seen a paper wasp nest before so they were fascinated. Then I showed them a few full-sized nests that I have collected over the years. That was even more interesting for the guys.
Since there was a nest so close meant I had to photograph it, which I did. In fact, I put a small camera on a selfie stick mounted on a tripod to really get close to the nest. Each of us was curious what would happen and all had fun.
With such curious safari participants willing to play around, I asked them to do a special pose on a dock along the river. Two of the three agreed and helped me make the picture I was looking for. The image really does not show much, but it speaks volumes…like summer time, and boys along the river, and Huck Finn/Tom Sawyer thoughts, and you name it.
I had a great time with the young fellows and their family and I hope they enjoyed the outing too.
