In The Yard Today

Once again our bird feeding area of the yard was busy with activity today. In addition to the common species we see and feed every day, today we also had a male rose-breasted grosbeak, a white-crowned sparrow, many Baltimore orioles, a Swainson’s thrush, ruby-throated hummingbirds, and these three special birds – a brown thrasher along with a male and female indigo bunting.

Noticeably absent from our yard – unlike other people who informed me of their good fortune – were scarlet tanagers. I can try to attract them, but if they don’t find the food, I simply won’t have them. I suppose there is still time to draw one in, if I am lucky.
