Not Quite From My Wish List

Most people, I suppose, have a wish list of sorts. For some the wish list includes very specific items with every intent to obtain them. For others, me included, the wish list identifies things that might be nice to have, but won’t break a heart if they are never seen.

One item on my wish list is an inflatable kayak or canoe. When I think about an inflatable canoe or kayak, I wonder if such a vessel would be light enough to carry as a kit on my back for a considerable distance. And, if I could carry it to a remote location, how easy would it be to inflate. Once inflated, I wonder if I would be comfortable enough in an air filled kayak or canoe to stow my camera equipment. Then on the water how easy would it be to navigate. With so many questions it is no wonder an inflatable boat safe for serious use is on my wish list and will likely remain there for a long time.

This past weekend I handled my first inflatable canoe… something I received as a gift. The vessel comes with baggage and is of questionable sea-worthiness. While my red canoe may never bring any pleasure by floating on water, the vessel seems to be packed with the magic power of creating joy and excitement for young kids, especially our special little ones.

I am not one to do much decorating for the holidays. When Kristy saw this last year on the sale rack, she bought it for me so I might be able to show some spirit as the grandkids and I set it up in the yard. She was correct about the thrill this simple decoration had. The grandkids were thrilled and I was happy to see their excitement!

During my travels today I saw a couple of whitetail deer. None were big bucks.
