Finding Some of What I Was Looking For

The primary purpose of a hike today was to check the status of hazard buoys on the Cedar River. Had all gone well, I would have seen four buoys in the same general location where I placed them several weeks ago. That was not the case. In fact, I found only one of the four upstream buoys. I will now have to go on the river in a boat to look for the remaining buoys.

As I walked I noticed the many pretty flowers. All of the colors and their variables can be seen right now in the timbers of Northeast Iowa. I photographed some species, but very few. Following are some of the plants/blossoms that caught my attention.

For those keeping track of these sorts of things…one of the trees with a pronounced bend in the trunk has broken off.
