All You Can Eat Buffet

While traveling down a low-traffic gravel road today, I noticed this adult bald eagle devouring the east end of a west-bound deer. Based on circumstances, I am going to assume the deer was hit by a vehicle and died a short distance off the road.

This eagle did not fly away as I approached. Instead it fed and fed on the back end of the deer. Would that be called a venison butt roast?

Only a few miles away this adult bald eagle took flight from the edge of the road and stopped in soybean stubble. What had attracted this bird and a juvenile was not determined.

I am not sure if this eagle is sitting on eggs or just thinking about it. Either way, the time is coming soon for young eagles.
