More Sandhill Cranes than Time to Photograph Them
Not far from Tripoli there are anywhere from 30+ to around 80 sandhill cranes gathering in various pastures. Soon they will take flight and depart for warmer climates until sometime around mid-March when we will see them again. This photo shows some of the 30-something cranes. I did not have time to watch them or count them.

Near the Wapsipinicon River I saw two pied-billed grebes. Grebes certainly do not remain in the area long when they know someone is watching them.
