Enjoying the Wapsipinicon River

Work, mow, work, mow, paddle my kayak…that was the extent of my day today. Of the activities listed, paddling was obviously the most enjoyable even though my wildlife sightings were few. I am going to share some images recorded today, but what I may remember most was something I did not photograph.     

As I paddled my kayak through a quiet passage, I watched as an osprey took flight – flying left to right in front of me. Not once but twice the bird dropped down to grab something from the river’s surface. From what I could tell, the osprey came up empty clawed each time. The bird was so graceful and flew out of sight after the second touch on the water.
