I Might Have to Take a Nap

For some time I have been considering replacing my backcountry tent with my hammock for trips. I’ve done some research on the idea and have talked to a number of folks who have made the switch. I’ve also talked to some who gave it a try and stayed with tents. Apparently you either love your hammock or you hate it, at least for overnight use.

I had some free time today so I hung my hammock between a couple of birch trees so I could lay in it for awhile. My test was too brief to make the decision. I think I will either have to take a long nap in it or actually sleep through the night in my hammock before I decide for sure. I will admit, it would not have taken long to conduct the nap test!

On a tree supporting one end of my hammock was this cicada exoskeleton. I would guess the noisy thing is somewhere high in the tree.
