A Dickcissel Kind of Day in Iowa

Summer is here without a doubt. Temperatures are climbing, humidity is following, and the crops are growing well. As a person travels the Iowa landscape in warm days of summer, they often pass near singing dickcissels. Today I enjoyed one calling and calling from a power line near the edge of the road.

I also found a late hatch of wood ducks cutting across a duckweed-covered pond.
